Hi All. I have one here that I think is a real diffucult one but im sure someone will be able to help. Below is a memo field I have that is a list of names contained in one field:-

CN=Gillian S Corner/OU=GBPTD/O=ABB;CN=Graham Uglow/OU=GBPTD/O=ABB;CN=Keith Corner/OU=GBPTD/O=ABB;CN=Mandy Fox/OU=GBPTD/O=ABB;CN=Rob Elsey/OU=GBPTD/O=ABB;CN=Shane T Paul/OU=GBPTD/O=ABB

Is there a way of extracting the names from the middle of this and splitting each one so it appears on its own line, for example I want it to end up looking something like this:-

Gillian S Corner
Graham Uglow
Keith Corner

etc.......

can anyone help?

Many thanks.

David.

Hi Lbass, hope that you are ok.

I have had some issues with my reports and so I have had to switch from the native driver supplied with crystal to using the ODBC driver to connect to my lotus domino server. Now I have done this I am only getting the first 8 names on each list coming up but those 8 names keep repeating for each name in the list (for instance in my first list I have 28 names that should be displayed, however I am getting the first 8 names repeated 28 times) When I add your ;J at the end I get the value 8 repeated 28 times and when I add ;len (display) we get 119.00 repeated 28 times.... any ideas now?!?!? Thanks so much for the help.

It sounds like there are two problems--that the formula is only picking up the first 8 names, and then that they are repeating.

As I said, please show an example or two of the memo field where there are more names than are shown in the formula. Can I assume that you have not changed the formula from your post of Jan 4, 4:07? It would help if you pasted the exact formula into the thread, just in case there is some minor change that got incorportated inadvertently.

Can you verify that the repeating names are occurring within one record? Or are you seeing the multiple lists of the same names because the record is repeating?

Hi lbass.

I have solved it! there was 2 issues as you said. My first issue was that my DSN on my odbc connection was set to only see the first 256 characters, which is about 8 names, hence why your formula was only returning the first 8 names, and my second issue was that I was putting your formula in the details section which was repeating your formula for every record! Thanks so much for your help, could not have done it without you! have a star. D.
