HELP! I am running BE 10.0 on a W2K SP4 server (Dell 2550) with a SCSI attached LTO3 Tape Library. Last week, I updated the server bios, and raid firmware. Since that time I have not been able to get access to the tape library. I have updated the Veritas tape driver and followed all the links for trouble shooting that I can find. The library and drive show up in Veritas Devices OK and also in the Device Manager. The library is marked OffLine in Veritas. When I get it “online” and do an inventory of a tape, the job fails with “Final Error 0xe0008113 – Physical Volume Library Robot not found”.
My next option is to rebuild the whole server from scratch.
If any one has any ideas before I start the rebuild, I will be grateful to hear and try them all.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This usually occurs when there has been a change to the hardware.

You could delete the library out of BE and restart all the services.

Re-add the library back in.

Then you may need to reassign your backup jobs to the new library, I have usually found that if you make a hardware change all the backup jobs require you to re-assign (just reselect from the drop down list) the backup device (even if it is named the same) as the job looks for the hardware under the Identifier and not the name of the device.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip!
I removed the tape drives from both Veratas and Device manager. Did a re-boot. Ran the Veritas Device Install for the Tape Drive. Did another re-boot. It did appear under devices, but still in an “offline” mode. After a while I can put it on line. Then when I run an Inventory on a tape, it says “Physical Volume Library Robot not found”.
I think that Tuesday will be the day of rebuild!
Thanks again.
JAC.

Follow up:
I found the solution! There is a configuration document for Backup Exec for the SCSI tape drive. Our drive was set up with the Loader as SCSI ID 5 and the Drive as SCSI ID 6. The document said not to use SCSI ID 0, 1, and 6 as they are reserved. I change the Tape drive configuration so the Loader as SCSI ID 4 and the Drive as SCSI ID 5. I did a full power down of the tape unit and the server. When the server was back up, I deleted the drive from Backup Exec Device and let Backup Exec add it again. THINGS WORKED! Apparently, the update of the firmware on the SCSI enforced the SCSI ID 6 as being reserved.
