My P-shop7 drops out before program loading is completed. Removing & reinstalling the program won't help. This happend before and nothing short of re-formating the C-drive(!!!) and reinstalling the Photoshop fixed the problem. Then after a couple of months, the problem is back.

I'm using Xp. When loading photoshop, I can see that it loads most of its parts and right after (or during) reading the fonts, it shut itself out.

Any guidance on what can be done to fix this problem is appreciated.

I hate to state the obvious but have you tried trashing the prefs.

(I've just got that answer in a text file that I copy and paste from now ;-))

dimoj, Thanks for suggestion. So far i've tried emptying the fonts & resetting reference thru cntrl-altr-del intruption. Still doesn't want to load. Sorry, to show ignorance but where is prefs located?

Sounds like you are using the Windows operating system.

Photoshop has a nice little trick for deleting prefs...

Launch the Photoshop program (whatever way you do that) and within a split second after - hit the alt+ctrl+shift buttons all at the same time.

You need to punch those buttons just at the right time.

(I am not kidding)

It's like a stupid Space Invaders game... because there is a small window of opportunity for you to nail it.

If you get it - it will ask you if you want to delete Prefs (or something like that) - then it will start fresh.

I am 99% sure trashing the prefs will fix your problem.

dimoj, Thanks buddy; that fixed it!! But you were right, had to try it 6 or 7 times before catching it. Thanks again. -HT

Do you have any fonts loaded that you downloaded? Sometimes, they are just "different" enough that they can cause problems with PS loading. Resetting prefs fixes it, but only for awhile.
