Greetings All!

I have a user that uses Photoshop Elements 2.0 to format and print images captured using a digital camera. What the user is asking for is the ability to have the file name print as the default label when printing an image. This feature already exists as an option under FILE>PRINT LAYOUTS>PICTURE PACKAGES but the problem is that it doesn't give you the option to print only 1 copy of the image in a PICTURE PACKAGE.

What I've noticed is that when you run a PICTURE PACKAGE it seems like it runs a pre-programmed formatting template that opens the image, resizes it, rotates it, copies it into the package sheet and inserts the labels (almost like a macro). If there isn't an easy way to just tell Photoshop to print the file name as a label by default, can anyone advise me on how to set up a Photoshop template package that will execute the desired formatting?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

OK, I seem to have at least partially answered my own question.

I found an article on Adobe's website explaining how to create custom formattings. Basically you simply create a text file under C:/Program Files/Adobe/Photoshop Elements 2/Presets/Formattings/(your_file_name).txt using the specs given in the article. This text file defines your custom Print Layout and is then included in the list of available Picture Packages.

Now, the next piece of the puzzle that I need to solve is that this solution positions the file name label ON the edge of the image. My user needs the label to be off on the margin because occasionally the image is dark around the edges, making the label not visible. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Photoshop has a tool under File>Print Preview>Show More Options called a Caption that places a text label on the margin but the only way I have found to populate it is to manually type the file name into the caption field under File>File Info. Do any of you Photoshop gurus have any thoughts on how to automate this process?

Thanks again!
