Welcome to the forum. This is a "hardware" forum, I would recommend posting in the forum for whatever OS you're using (XP, Vista etc.)

Generally when this happens it's because the application does not close when you close the program. Going into Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and stopping the process for the application is one way, although a PITA, to solve this problem. Also, Ulead has a user forum where someone complained about this problem without a solution. Best of luck.

Thanks for the help I will follow through and see what happens.

I second that what Tony mentioned...

though, I would deinstall the app and then reinstall it...

if that does not work, then upgrading may be the ticket... PhotoImpact is at version 13 these days...

Ben...remember there are those of us who don't like to upgrade, we find a version we like and keep it forever! [smile]

On the Ulead forum, the person with the same problem tried un/re-installing the app, it had no effect:

...and they were on version 10, so upgrading might not matter.

Tony, that is ok, about people staying confident with the app of their choice, upgrading it was a suggestion that may work or not...

I personally use X3 and have never encountered that problem...

on the link you provided, the OP did not return yet to give information if or what worked or not... I am assuming that there are conflicting apps installed or the OS is not in a stable state (may appear to the casual user as if it is), e.g. not up to date etc...

Thanks to all for the help .
I was able to correct the problem after performing disk error checking in Windows XP. That was a good suggestion and all is well.
Thanks

Glad you were able to solve the issue. Now is the time to start planning on moving in to to a new disk, if your present one is throwing up errors, it might be getting ready to fail. Keep this in mind and perform frequent backups.

Hard drives are cheap, post back here when you decide to upgrade your disk.

I again second the notion, that I too am glad you got the problem fixed...

and what Tony suggested about the HDD, is good advice to remember...
