I have started sending my photos via e-mail to friends as PDF files since I can send much higher quality images then I could in jpeg format.

Now everyone wants to know how they can save and send their photos in PDF format. Needles to say they don't want to spring for Photoshop CS.

Does anyone here know if “Photoshop Elements” will save in PDF format?

I think that most of these people can pay what it costs to buy that if it will let them create PDF image files. I looked at the Adobe sit but I couldn't find anyplace that discussed file formats.

Thanks for the help

Mike

I was kind of intrigued by this question, so I opened up my son's Elements 3, and sure enough it can "Save As" PDF, which I thought it did. Not too sure what the question is, then.

I'm looking for a program that doesn't cost a lot that some of my friends can buy to create PDF image files.

The reason is…

I saved the same image a 7.5 by 10 at 300dpi and these are the file sizes that resulted.

Uncompressed .tif = 19.5mb

Compressed .tif = 15mb.

Jpg = 718 with some loss in quality.

PDF = 196k with no visible quality loss.

As you can see for e-mailing high quality pictures PDF is the way to go if the recipient only wants to view or print them. I suppose that if Photoshop Elements will save in PDF format then it will open and edit them as well. That would make it the way to go period.
