phones unable to register to clan 1

Phones are getting stuk into discovery mode and unable to
registe to c-lan. any clues for troubleshooting this problem?
 
new install or existing that unregistered. if new verify address and access to tftp server, dhcp server, verify dhcp scope
 
New phones are not registering....we have verified addres and access to tftp server and dhcp scope.....we have 2 clans...

 
you should probably get AVAYA's "IP Boottest", which tests the ability of 46XX series IP phones to work, and tells you your TFTP / DHCP is setup correctly. You could also try an IP Softphone on a PC on that LAN segment, and see if that works. could be a lot of issues, Speed/Dujplex ,ismatches on the CLAN/MEDPRO's, VLAN issues, LAN is not reachable, ethernet crossover cable might be needed.. could be many things. Can you ping the CLAN and MEDPRO IP address's on that LAN segment, and from any other segments you are trying? might be an IP routing issue... you havn't provided much in the way of symptoms here...

Hi !

Is the problem sorted out ?

If not there are these 2 things you could check.

1. Do a list trace on the EPABX and you can see the message exchange and possible issue
2. Rather silly, check the system para customer options page 2. " Maximum Concurrently Registered IP Stations: " just see if they have missed sometihng here.

I faced the same problem sometime back.

the phones are 9620 and they get their IP address and
download setings file but they stuck at "discover xx.xx.xx.xx". they are unable to register to clan.

DHCP and tftp are setup correctly.

any troubleshooting commands recommended? iknow list trace.. and ping. any other commands to find root cause?

 
hi we are getting this denial event,

denial event 2040: IP GRJ-No CLAN available endpt 10.37.65.131 data0:

i checked in maint alarms guide..it means no resources available for signalling.

how do we determine if we are out of resources...
any commands? what do we do to resolve this?
 
status link x" will show how many session are up on "DOLAN", which are the resource used for IP phones. I highly doubt that is the issue, since each CLAN can support 440 IP phones. You can also do a "list registered", and sort by the gatekeeper, so see all of the IP phones registered to a particular CLAN board.

Try "status socket-usage" Each clan will show socket usage. Total will be on the top right of the form.

we have 2 clan's and DOLAN shows 475 and 473 sessions
are up respectively.

so do we need to add another clan?

any clue how to resolve this?

 
Looks like you need to install more CLAN resource if each is supporting over 470 endpoints

I would go for installing an additional 2 or 3 to spread the phone registrations, if you lose 1 CLAN now you lose 50% of your endpoints
 
yes, sha111, I agree with definityandcmuk, you should have at LEAST 4 CLANs in that switch, so that if you have a single failure, only %25 of your phones would need to re-register. Also, it will be difficult to do CLAN firmware upgrades, with so many phones depending on each of your 2 CLANs. CLANs are pretty inexpensive, at least compared to MEDPRO's. FYI, around 400 IP phones is the suggested maximum load, with 440 being the recomended max, you are way over this.

You can try
un-plugging the 9620's -
press star when indicated
enter code = craft
press #
scroll down to clear
the set should reboot itself and find DHCP server
log phone in with extn enter then password enter

hope it helps
