Avaya IP 500 v2. I am trying to get all the extensions not to ring before the auto attendant kicks in. I am not sure if its the caller id causing this or not? Also it appears that even though calls are being directed by the auto attendant... The caller ID is showing up on all the extensions

if it is analog lines, there are 2 rings to catch caller id before it hits anything.

We don't know how your system is setup. Are your incoming call routes pointed to an auto attendant, or to a group of users first?

All the lines are routed to an AA.. On 1408's and 1416's.. At that point the AA directs them to hunt groups and single extensions depending on the departments. They are analog POTS lines.

Do you have line appearances on the phones? Remove those. If they are just going to an auto attendant, first, they would NEVER ring the phones (sans some bug).

Working on that right now.. I wonder if that is causing some calls bypassing the auto attendant..

That is the curse of line appearances; don't know if they addressed it or if it's just the way it works, but the first install I did, replacing a Norstar, I had line appearances, no ring, but the AA answered. What happened when someone dialed an extension was that the call wouldn't ring the phone, because the line were programmed to not ring; drove me nuts!

Change lines to not ring on line appearance buttons and select ringing line preference in user telephony tab.

I do love the systems, I usually install the partner versions because thats what I was comfortable with. This is the first essentials Office install and I just think the bugs should be out of them by now and Avaya should stick with calling "options" one thing.. I tried for days to allow calls to come into an attendant, then with an option ring a hunt and default into another attendant with selector codes for extensions of who to leave a msg with. I was able to get the calls into the second attendant BUT it wouldnt ring the hunt group at all. If I *'d the phantom extension or hunt group I was able to hear the 8402 attendant.. I gave up and just use the hunt group voicemail

Partner Edition and Essential Edition are 2 totally seperate animals.

Yes they are 1043... I am learning by trial and error and this great forum..
