Good morning,

Please, where could we retrieve the configuration files of phones (IP or SIP)on the ICP's TFTP?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You need to ftp to the 3300 to find them.
But why you want to have those files ?

ACS - Implement IP Office
ACA - Implement IP Telephony -- ACA - Design IP Telephony
ACA - Voice Services Management

In fact, it's a little bit complicated, it's only a project and the partner doesn't use PABX and he would like to be able to retrieve the configuration file of the phone to save them. He wants to test it on lab.
I know that everything is on the FTP of the ICP,correct me if I'm wrong but the phone is only FTTP client and just retrieve the software (and configuration?) from a FTTP server (external or ICP), so normally he should already have everything available somewhere.
To be honest I found his request a little bit strange! But it's just in case I miss something...

This isn't something I'd be too excited to do if only because you need to refresh your TFTP server anytime you do an upgrade. Since this wouldn't be a normal thing to do it could easily be overlooked when an upgrade is done causing all kinds of unknown grief.

But... I've thought about doing it myself because I'd suspect phones would load faster if you had a real good server with real good through put. Even then, it would only really be an advantage if the network went down and all the phones needed to get their boot load at the same time. That shouldn't happen very often so the reason to do it is pretty limited.

Just my thougts.

My 2c. I was thinking about it as well. IP phones (MiNET) don't have any configuration. They just download software image. 53xx phones just check for updates and don't download anything. The only configuration availble from external source is IP address of ICP in DHCP options. MiNET phone will not work in stand alone mode, it must communicate to the controller, because all actions like button pushes and handset lifting are sent to the controller and controller will respond with commands what to do like make a beep, display a string, open voice channel and etc.

Complications with SIP configurations is that you have to replicate those configs across your network if you have more then one ICP because DHCP will always point to the local ICP as TFPS server.

You can maintain your own TFTP server(s), but it makes things even more complicated while you will have to maintain the same version on all ICP controllers which is recommended, but not always possible. Plus if you don't have TFTP server on site, then in case of WAN outage phones may become not functional.
