Does anyone use phonemaster?

How easy is it to add another pbx to it?

Or is this the wrong forum?

TIA

i have a friend that swears by phone master and if you have the lic, adding additional switches is a breeze. it's ten times faster then otm and much eaiser to learn..

Phonemaster is extremely easy to setup and flexible to handle multiple switches. But most importantly, you won't be left out on your own doing this, their tech support will walk you through every step and they are FANTASTIC!

I've added another switch for the CallBill call accounting system from Phoneware and it was very easy too.

Once you use Phonemaster you won't want to use anything else - especially OTM.

Hope this helps.

Phonemaster is great... You can drag and drop to program buttons on you phones. Set up templates, make schedules, and track changes made from user to user. We have 6 tech's that log into our phone switch and it is nice being able to see what they have done. We also use callbill phonewares other product that does call accounting. this is great also keeps track of evey cdr record. SQL so its easy and fast to search. If you make a change in one the other is updated with no action on your part. I currently have 3 opt. 81's 4 opt 11. Callbill also handles all of our cdr for our cisco call mgr. I have never had a problem with support. Windows based and easy to use.

what used to take hours of typing now only takes min. of draging and droping.

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies. All of which I totally agree with, it's great to watch it punch the buttons in for you, and certainly a great way to learn switching commands.

However, I've heard there is a licencing issue adding new sites to Phonemaster? I'm not sure if the version I'm using is old? But I don't see anywhere to add a new site.

that's very true, i looked at phonemaster as a possible install tool for building new switches. didn't go that way do the licence cost for each new system. bad thing about any gui interface, you learn the interface and never learn the switch. it's ends up burining you in the end. it's a little ahrd to get a job as a nortel tech is all you know is otm or phonemaster. if you know command line, jobs look for you

I'm not a huge fan of PhoneMaster or OTM/MAT. (I've been using the command line for about twenty years.)

We use PhoneMaster where I work, so I "have" to use it and we take care of switches all over the world. I've never gotten into the cost or licensing part of it, but it's easy to go from one switch to the other.

I've installed and used MAT and OTM in the past and would have to say PhoneMaster is a much better product.

My opinion.

i agree with that, the comment was intended for the kids that think they are a switchman because they can otm. otm/mat/phonemaster will go away. new software will replace it. some good some (otm).. either way, command line pays the bills

We've been using PhoneMaster for about 5 years now and love it. Its totally GUI.

Coast is considerably less than OTM.

We had some install issues with OTM that channel partner (and Nortel) never really resolved. Just could not get the answers back.

Phoneware is only an 800 number away and has always been totally responsive. These folks are very proud of their product and have always been extremely responsive. You can expect a fix in a day or two - try that with Nortel!!!!

As for licensing issues - give them a call and discuss - or drop them an email support@phoneware.ie

We've been able to have clerks do routine adds/changes with very little training.

In regard to daleblizz's comment on Phonemaster, there is a terminal access session, which lets you work on the switches in command line mode.

What was the lastest version of phonemaster people are using?

The company I work for seems to keep up to date.

The version we have is: 4.0.1

We've used phonemaster for about 6 years on 6 PBXs. It is easy to learn. It is very easy to add a new PBX.

If you want to build a PBX on it - it has templates and COPY features to assist. Also, if you are moving sets from one PBX to another, PHONEWARE has utilities to do this (it's done as a service from them - not expensive).

If you want to be come a full-fledged PBX technician - this isn't the product for you, but for a lot of us out here, the ability to do MACs and set programming is all we need.

I would highly recommend Phonemaster - both the product and the support staff. The support staff are wonderful - normally things are fixed on the first call - and the calls are live answered.

We use V3.01

Can anyone tell me how to add in more sites?

You need to purchase additional licesnes to add in more sites. PhoneMaster is licensed on a per PBX basis.

Your best bet is to contact them direct to find out how you go about this. Their toll free number (according to the web) is 1800 660 9248.
