Hello,

One of my users is experiencing the following error in Phone Manager 4.2.24 (previous version was 4.2.23 and same error).

PhoneManager
"is not a valid floating point value

The error window appears when PM is starting. PM seems to be working correctly, but the situation is very annoying.

Anyone have a clue about this error?.

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

I think a fresh installation of Phone Manager is required, as long as you keep a copy of their profile it's not a big job :)

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

I forgot to write that the fresh installation was done before my first post. The error had survived thru a full uninstall/install cycle.

Thank you.

Regards.

What OS are you using ?

Try removing your profile, it sometime gets messed up.

Just move the Avaya folder from your "My Documents" to another location for backup if the problem remains.

Hi,

Profile removed and recreated from scratch (at app. startup). Error persists.

Thanks.

Try this:
1. Close Phone manager program.
2. Select Start / Settings / Control Panel / Regional and Language Options
3. Click the Customize button.
4. Change the Decimal symbol to .
5. Save the changes made
6. Try to launch Phone Manager again

Thanks amriddle01, your solution seems to work.

After changing the decimal symbol to point the error was gone. However, given that in our locale (Spanish Spain) the decimal symbol is comma and having point as decimal symbol is not acceptable for a lot of our software, we changed back the decimal symbol to comma. Good news is that the error is still vanished after a machine reboot!.

Thank you all for your help.

Best regards.

Holy no kidding Batman.

Someone should get a star for that one.

CarGoSki
you should have given one to Andy.
amriddle how the @$^#&# did you know about that one

Yeah I suppose you are right since quite a few people see this place as their personal "save their butt" area without consideration of a simple star for the help.

Like this guy for instance. According to his stats he has yet to give out a star. 20 threads started and no stars given. What a grinch.

no stars on 20 threads sound like we were not good and fast enough.
We will be better next time.

CarGoSki, are you talking about me?

If yes, please explain me this thing of "stars". If I can, I promise to give stars to you all. Seriously, I appreciate so much the help I found on this forum.

Thanks.

Well, basically stars is a way of measuring your virtual libido, gives you a lot of cred among a small group of people.

Remembering back to my old BBS:ing days you got a lot of satisfaction being on top of the monthly upload list, even though probably only a hundred people ever saw that list, and no one knew who I were in real life.

Those were the days... ahh... =)
