Hi,

Bit of a weird one that I've not come across before and wondered if anyone else has.

Running IP Office 3.2 on a 406. I have a 5410 handset that rings, even when non-one is logged in and the call cannot be answered. I tried a different phone on same port and that had the same problem. I then traced the port to the physical port on the IP Office expansion module and disconnected it for about two minutes. Re-connected it and logged into phone as myself (not the user that had the problem) and the phones starts ringing again but still cannot be answered. Logged off and it carries on ringing.

Call status doesn't show any call. Have also tried re-starting the delta service just in case. Please help! The user is working from another desk\phone and has no problems now. The scenario that caused this is an external customer on hold whilst making an internal call, hangin up the internal call and then the phone rang, but couldn't be answered.

Any pointers appreciated, would rather not reboot the whole system for just one phone out of 70 but guess I will if I have too.

although TLPeter will tell you that im rubbish at my job and its because i clicked erase config
Tom it happens to the best altough it is an underestimated problem :)

I had a module that would go down everytime I did a reboot, caused by a corrupted .cfg file. I had to save the config, and then start taking things out (short codes, users, lines) one at a time to figure out what it was.

nemmens - what version of manager do you use when making changes to this site on 3.2 as some versions of 4.x can cause a 3.2 systemto reboot on a merge if used (cant remember exact versions though Im afraid).

I can't re-call the version of Manager of the top of my head but am very sure it's in line with the IP Office version.

The rebooting thing, whilst very annoying, doesn't happen all the time, maybe 1 in 15 merges. So although is a problem, one I can come back to later :)

I'm going to reboot the phone system out of hours and hopefully that will stop this phone ringing. Question, do I need to reboot the IP Office and all the modules, or will just a scheduled reboot of the IP Office suffice?

I would, just to make sure, reboot all of it.
Take down the processor then all the modules and after that power up the modules again and give it a minute (I know it doesn't take that long but just to make sure) and then power the processor back up.
Try not to unplug it from the back of the IPO units as that can cause trouble if you are shaking the power on and off a few times when restoring the power rather unplug from the power supply or the outlet.

I have seen this on 3.2 also. Delete the CA keys, merge, put them back and merge again will solve it, for now. Funny thing is when you delete the user and the phone goes to NoUser, it still keeps ringing!!!!!

They got upgraded to 3.2 (65) and it still happened.

I upgraded to 4.2 and all is now good.

Rebooted manually this morning and cleared the fault. Hopefully it will stay gone! thanks for info\help :)

Pretty sure that bug(phones ringing with no caller) was caused by a callback that could only be silenced via a call pickup. The bug was rather devastating and could only be stopped via upgrade.
