Hi,

Bit of a weird one that I've not come across before and wondered if anyone else has.

Running IP Office 3.2 on a 406. I have a 5410 handset that rings, even when non-one is logged in and the call cannot be answered. I tried a different phone on same port and that had the same problem. I then traced the port to the physical port on the IP Office expansion module and disconnected it for about two minutes. Re-connected it and logged into phone as myself (not the user that had the problem) and the phones starts ringing again but still cannot be answered. Logged off and it carries on ringing.

Call status doesn't show any call. Have also tried re-starting the delta service just in case. Please help! The user is working from another desk\phone and has no problems now. The scenario that caused this is an external customer on hold whilst making an internal call, hangin up the internal call and then the phone rang, but couldn't be answered.

Any pointers appreciated, would rather not reboot the whole system for just one phone out of 70 but guess I will if I have too.

try *00 on the extension.

What 3.2 version are you on. I'v seen this on the early 3.2 (53, 54 and 55 from memory) release but not on the latest 61 and 67 release.

As a temporary fix you could try to delete all CallAppearance buttons for that user merge the config and then recreate the CA buttons again.

on version 3.2 67 ( I think, or the latest one 3/4 months ago).

Tried *00 but hasn't stopped it. Reluctant to do a merge but will as a last resort.

In the Manager on the User, on the ShortCodes are there any FWD in? And in the Source number?

You could try to remove those.

Why are you reluctant to do a merge? It doesn't effect anything it's a live change.

Forwardings not in the FWD tab but in the ShortCode tab.

Our IP Office has a history of randomly rebooting itself after a merge. As a result of this, we only do it when needed, like now for instance. I have to get management approval first though, just in case.

There isn't anything in the short code tab for the user, but the problem isn't user specific, it seems to be extension specific.

That just strengthens the case for upgrading the kit, that's more than likely why it's rebooting after a merge too, it only takes 5 to 10 mins to upgrade things :)

I know, but they're reluctant to upgrade as we may be moving on to Communications Manager within months. We have pretty much outgrown the IP Office.

could just leave it ringing for the next few months I suppose? ;)

i have seen this, a reboot will clear it, but it will come back all the time

@amriddle01, I thought you meant upgrade to 4.2 and/or IP500, guess that takes a bit longer than 5-10 mins though! :)

@TomMills really? any idea of the cause?

Funny you should say that, the 500 can take more exapansion modules with the next release, so you can ditch the end user unfriendly Comm Manager and keep the feature rich IPO :) lol

no idea, i resolved it by leaving the company that had the client that had the problem, i dont hear from them anymore :)

another point to note was that the system i was talking about was on 3.2 (cant remember which revision) and it had a habit of defaulting itself after sending in a config. although TLPeter will tell you that im rubbish at my job and its because i clicked erase config :)
