I'm at our offices now and I just looked at our processors, etc., on the system. We have a 2 slot carrier because we needed additional extensions. Anyway, the "expansion" card is a "206E Module R3.1" and the main processor/card simply says Partner ACS. I guess since the main processor is, aparently, R1.1 then the R3.1 reverts back to R1.1 instead of upgrading it to R3.1??
Also, help on my previous post would still be appreciated, too.
Hi tryingmybest,
Okay, get rid of that darn two slot carrier before the ACS is baked. Get the new 5 slot carrier. If you feel the heat coming off the ACS you will know what I mean.
The 206E card has operating software that has not much to do with programming features. A 206EC has caller ID. The system will run at the rev of the processor. Also, a 206 card is the older Partner Plus or Partner II type card. If it goes, the new replacement is a 308EC. 3 CO, 8 station port.
Yeah, the 206EC card we got was a "freebie" from out phone guy. It was removed from a working system at a defunct business and he gave it to us. So, if it dies then we aren't out anything really. But I know what you mean. If it burns it up we'll get a 5 slot and the 308EC to match the processor. Thanks for the tips/info. I wasn't sure how all that added up.
Hi tryingmybest,
Actually, I'm worried about the ACS processor. That's the one between the wall and the outer 206 card. 100% of systems installed with a two slot carrier and another card have failed. And I'm in Canada! Normally, a customer doesn't upgrade until the processor fails, then it's "we should have taken your advice". Of course it's an emergency service call and no record of programming. I just don't want you to be one of them. Clearly, I'm not trying to sell you anything either.
We don't sell two slot carriers any more for that reason.
Cool! (pun intended), no problem then. Time to upgrade your software I guess. Before you do that, have a look on ebay for used systems. You may get a voicemail also. Watch out for R3's (power supply problems). Or at least an inexpensive processor at a higher rev.

We have a voicemail card in the slot already so that's covered I guess. Can I put the upgrade card in the other slot when I do the upgrade? Anyone know where I can get an upgrade card for pretty cheap?
Hi tryingmybest,
I believe the instructions are to remove all other cards in the processor when performing an upgrade. Reinstall them when you are done.
You need an NEW upgrade card. They are one-shot only! Having said that, maybe you can find a new R5 upgrade for less expensive. ;-) But be sure it's new in box, with instructions. If it has ever been inserted in a processor and powered up, it will not upgrade another. Your money will have been totally wasted.
Does anyone still have an older upgrade card (new) for tryingmybest?
-Chris
Okay, a new one. Well I posted a new thread asking if anyone has one. Maybe someone does. I'd really like to upgrade if it's easy and possible. Is using the software like mentioned above a requirement or just suggested?
