Hello,

We are running an older version of IP Office (4.1). We want to be able to use softphones, as we are running out of ports on our Avaya switches. We downloaded and installed PhoneManager 4.2. Upon opening it up we get an SPserver error (class not registered). Our support people said that Phon Manager 4.2 is not compatible with IPO 4.1, and that no one can download any software released prior to 4.2. We cannot get PhoneManager to work. We are hoping that if we can get a copy of PhoneManager 4.1, that this will work. A few questions:
1) Is this possible?
2) If so, does anyone have the software for Phone Manager 4.1?
3) Is the SPserver error the cause of this, and not the possible incompatibility of IPO 4.1 with Phone Manager 4.2?

Thanks in advance for any/all replies!

Yes, I did - and I read that thread. Sorry, I should have mentioned that. It didn't address the possible compatibility issue with PhoneManager 4.2 and IP Office 4.1. As far as the SPserver error goes, I tried a repair of the PhoneManager software, and that didn't help. Guess I'll try a reinstall, but this is happening on more than one PC. In the other thread, the poster had to downgrade his OS from W2k. We're using Windows 7. I was hoping that someone had the PhoneManager 4.1 software, but if he had to downgrade from W2k, then I'm not holding out much hope that this can be resolved without an upgrade to IP Office.

Thanks again,
MS

What version of Win7 are you using? I believe it will not work on Home versions.

PM Pro 4.2 can work on 4.1, the error you get is related to user rights on the PC you install PMPro.
My advise: take the PC out of the domain and login as local admin, install the crap and then rejoin the domain.
That is the only way I got it working.

If it ain't dutch it ain't much

Calgary Jeff, we are using Windows 7 Professional

intrigrant, when you say take the pc out of the domain, do you mean that i actually need to change pc's status as member of our domain to workgroup, or can I just log out of the domain, and log in as admin to the local PC?

Thanks so much! I really hope this works

UPDATE:

intrigrant,
Thank you so much for your advice! I did what you suggested and I am no longer getting the SPserver error. But I am not up and running 100%. I can make and receive calls to extensions within our office, but when I try to dial an outside line, or try to call my softphone from an outside number I get an "all circuits are busy" message. I have left a message with our support people, but they don't get back to us quickly. I've gone through most of the "Help" sections in the PhoneManager software, but haven't found anything yet that addresses this issue. Any ideas while I'm waiting for tech support to get back to me?

Thanks again!
MS

CORRECTION:
When I try to dial an outside line, nothing happens - it's only when someone tries to call my softphone number from outside of the company that they get the "all circuits are busy" message.

Do a trace (monitor or SSA) while attempting a call and post here :)

I'm sorry if I seem a bit dense, but how do I do that? I searched the PhoneManager help files for "trace" and monitor" and found nothing. Is it something I do from the PhoneManager software or from IP Office? In my PhoneManager screen the number I am calling, the From and To fields populate, but disappear within seconds.

Sounds like a problem in IP Office, my guess is it relates to shortcode programming.
If you are not familiar with fault tracing on IP Office then you best wait for a tech who does.
I don't think it has anything to do with the PhoneManager.

If it ain't dutch it ain't much
