I have a customer with a anologue AVAYA Phone. They say that sometimes the phone rings and they pickup but it continues to ring.

I think the phone itself is the problem but I was wondering if anyone has ever come accross any system problems that cause this?

I had a similar problem with a digital station recently; an incoming call caused the first call appearance to become frozen in the rining state... that appearance rang for about 45 minutes before the customer called me for help. The receptionists were unable to answer (as there was no call on that appearance.)

After trying a number of way to get it to stop, we rebooted the IP406 and all was back to normal.

Its likely the hook switch is bad. So when u answer the call, it really hasnt picked up because the spring may not be springy enough to release it. try a different phone.

No seen it before , if a call is freezing remove the call appearance,s from the station an put back the call appearance,s and everything works again.

Just can,t find it how its triggerd.

Avaya just keeps asking for loggings but also dont now the answer.

DJRabin are your users hotdeskers

No got desk. No call appreances. Just a plain old analogue phone.

try unplug the phone, replug.

also, resending the upgrade to the specific unit will reboot just that module which is being resent the upgrade. this does not mean resend the upgrade to the processor unit. it will keep you from having to reboot the entire system.

More likely the hook switch on the phone.

Always think simple first!!!

Fooball is not a matter of life and death-It is far more important!!!!

jamie,
i agree with the simple, which is shy i said unplug the phone, and plug it back in first. hook switch was mentioned already, so i was trying to add options, not repeat them.

the module upgrade to the same release it has currently is just a way to avoid rebooting the entire system, and still reboot the module. it is an option that customers are less likely to push back on than a full reboot. now if i am on t/m i still offer it, but do not mind as much if they are going to make me wait until a no calls status is reached anyway.

i asked DJRabin did you use hotdesking.

Greets Peter

Nope, no hotdesking. We tried all of the basic stuff; unplug phone, etc. Tried to remove the call appearance, but as it was the first, IP Office only allows you to remove appearances from the bottom up.

Ip office build 3.2.17 has a known issue that cause phones to phantom ring. It is fixed in 3.2.53.

I have it in 3.1(65) it looks ok now i removed al logout buttons and programmed dial *36.
Now they first must hang up before they can logout.

Just still am intressted if it come,s back because its a big customer and open 24 hours a day.

I have had it on more than three 6410IP phones.
On sw 3.1.56 at a customer site had to delete user and IP extension to get it to quit ringing.

If it happens again try picking up thecall from another phone *32*N#

I am having a similar problem. The phone keeps ringing on the first call appearance.

* I tried rebooting the phone
* I tried replacing the phone

Rebooted PBX, then rebooted phone. Problem resolved. We are on the 3.2(17) release. I am going to upgrade the system tonight. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

first thing to do if it happens.

Remove all line appearance of that phone and send config back.

Then ad line appearance again.
Worked for me.

Come on everbody the man says about an analog phone.

paul;I think you have a flash problem. But first of all you will have to change the phone.Did you look call status when it occurs so at call status can you see a line that at hold.also check your hold time maybe it can be sometimes not always but I think the user cant hang up the call instead he holds the line and after hold time the phone rings. Can you plaese chek them.If it is so you will have to edit with flash times at extensions tab.

Plaese inform me .
