Phone doesn't ring. Light flashes only 1

Hi,

We've got an old IP401 DT4. We've previously only been using three of the digital phones but plugged a fourth in today. The problem is that the phone we've just connected doesn't ring. Only the light flashes when a call is coming in. This is the same for internal as well as external calls. I've checked the config of the user compared with others which is the same as is the extension config.

Anyone any ideas?

DT handsets when old are notorious for the ringers to fail. just buy a new (refurbed) one!

you could, firstly, swap the phones round and see if the fault follows.

secondly - check the ring volume is turned up!

Thirdly, try whacking it hard on the desk (seriously), that often make them work

Hmm. I was hoping for an unknown shortcode that'd bring it back to life. Short of this I did whack the thing and presto- it's working! Cheers Amriddle.

Now..... How to fix that £40k mainframe. Does anyone have a bat?

You could try to press the + Volume...
You can turn off the ringer volume by pressing - more then once.

I once gave a DT1 a swift punch on the speaker to get it ringing again.

The customer response was "You cannot be serious?!?", I smiled and said "well it works doesn't it?"

I assume you like to give a swift punch with the customers head on the speaker ?

I would give a swift punch with the phone on the head of the annoying customer, it is more easier and if they run away you can at least trow it to them.
