I would *greatly* appreciate any help with this. Before leaving town for 4-5 weeks, I shutdown the printer. It shutdown very fast, but I did what the instruction manual said to do. I then unplugged the machine. Upon returning, I restarted it. The red light flashed immediately, then went off for just a minute while the warm-up cycle began. Once the warm-up cycle hit 6%, this error code appeared, telling me to "contact service" -- 05.001.41:13956. I tried resetting the machine, but it made no difference. (FYI: I believe this happened to me before, 2-3 years ago. At that time, it was covered by warranty, but the tech told me that the repair would have cost me $1400+ otherwise. Seems he replaced a key part, through which the ink flows. Anyway, I can't afford such a costly repair now. It is not under a service plan (the rate was absurdly expensive for a single printer in a home business). If anybody can help me with info, etc, please let me know. I live in Portland, Oregon, by the way.
Sincerely,
Steve

That error is a Y- axis home failure. Take the left side case off and look for a round clear plastic cover. if you remove the cover there might be a dust bunny inside blocking the sensor. It could also be that the board failed. Check that and let me know what you find.

Thank you for your information & willingness to help. I really do appreciate it.

Unfortunately -- this is a bit embarrassing -- I'm having trouble simply removing the left panel. I removed one bolt from the upper-rear corner & one screw (w/ lock-type washer) from the upper-front corner.

These are the only two fasteners I see for the left cabinet panel, and I don't see any other relevant screws or bolts represented on the diagrams at <
Do I need to remove other parts or panels first? Or is there simply a proper technique for prying the left panel loose? It feels like the left panel is still attached at the bottom and in the center on top, so I'm hesitant to use much force -- especially since I don't know which way to push or pull.

Obviously, I'd be grateful for a bit more help. Once I get the panel removed, I'll post all that I learn & find.

Sincerely,
Steve

Okay, I removed the left cabinet panel. It was easy, once I got the courage to use a bit more force, then pulled up, out & down from the top of the panel.

There was some dust in there, which I carefully vacuumed out. I also made sure the plug was pushed into place for the "Y-Axis Encoder Kit" (the plug seemed to be in place).

Then I restarted the machine, and the red error light immediately lit again, followed later by the same code#. Further help would be *much* appreciated.

If you know that a part is required, please suggest a source or two. Thanks.

Sincerely,
Steve K.
