Has anyone run into this problem?

Our Phaser 850DP can no longer print more than one copy. It is connected (via USB port) to a PC running Windows XP Pro. It uses Windows' default 850 driver. We have tried the Xerox's driver and it didn't fix the problem.

It is not set to do a double-side on default.

It happens with all applications. When we ask it to print, say, two copies, first copy comes out, and the second sheet (this example is a one-page document) comes out half way, and it gets sucked back, as though it were doing the 2nd side (this is a one-side document). And it gets stuck.

It no longer will do 2nd side in this manner.

Also, if we print more than one sheet (a longer doument of more than one page long), after a few pages, it pauses to warm up, and that page is printed again (say, it prints page 5 twice).

I can live with the 2nd problem, but the first problem is truly a pain. Having to click PRINT button more than once is not the way to print a hundred copies. :-(

Is it worth getting a new one (a refurb. from Xerox) if it is going to cost a ton to fix?

Thank you all.

We run a Phaser 850DX on a small home network. Also we use Windows XP on 3 of the computers and Windows 2000 on the other 2.

Ask yourself . . . have you changed anything or added something that would affect a change in the printer?

If you can back track or do a reset to an earlier configuration of Windows XP where your printer worked properly then do so. If not, then I strongly recommend that you install or reinstall, as the case may be, the proper Textronix drivers for your printer and operating system as it will give you the gateway to other other printing options available to the Phaser 850.

I also recommend that you reset your NVRAM. This will reset the printer to its factory-default values. To do this on an 850 do the following:
1) If possible, print the Configuration Page for a record of all the printer's port setting and other customer-unique settings before doing step 2;
2) Enter the TROUBLESHOOTING menu;
3) Press and hold the Left arrow button;
While holding down the Left arrow button, press SELECT to enter the hidden service menu;
4) Scroll to the menu iten Reset NVRAM;
5 Press OK to reset NVRAM.

Please let us know if this helps.
