Hello,

I am currently trying to fix a Phaser 850 that keeps jamming at the paper exit.

The paper was not getting past the blue rapid release guide(xerox PN. 650-4153-00) because the transparent part had been creased up when someone had removed a jammed sheet of paper. I have replaced that part but now the paper only gets half way out of the exit.

Does anyone know what could cause this? I have looked at the rollers and the ones that I can see without taking the printer to bits seem OK.

Thanks,
Chris

I have seen this many times. My company is a Xerox SDP. On the left side of the printer you will see a wheel with teeth on it. (it is a compound gear). Behind the compound gear is the Eccentric transfix Gear. If you pull of the gear you will see that the gear has a slot where the key slides onto the shaft. The plastic key which is part of the gear shears off. The only fix is to buy a gear kit and replace the Eccentric transfix Gear if the gear is broke. Also on the right side you have a transfix solenoid assembly which could be bad. Part# for gear kit is 650-3691-00. Part for transfix assembly is 148-0301-01

We are also having this problem. Clutches have been cleaned or replaced and even switched around. The gears are not stripped out or are any of the keys broken. The solenoids are firing. Both transfix parts were checked with out any problems.
The next step according to our Xerox tech is a possible circuit board problem, but which.

The problem occurs on either drawer.

Oddly, a neighbor across the street is having the same exact problem, same model of printer and both started at about the same time.

Since neither of us are under maintenance any longer, maybe it's replacement time instead of large bill to troubleshoot and possibly fix.

there is a known problem with the transfix sylenoid sticking. It may not do it for 5 pages or it may take a hundred pages. On the right side of the printer about mid way at the to you will see a sliver bar with wires running through wire clips. There is a white cam the cam should rotate about 3/4 turn then stop for about 1 sec then spin to the knotch in the shaft and stop there if the sylenoid is misfiring the cam will spin past the knotch causing the paper to jam in the exit. the is a pad on the sylenoid that gets sticky if you stick a oiece of tape over that tab the hook will not stick let me know..

Before I could get a chance to try your suggestion, our Tech returned mumbling something about "how could I forget that...". He did exactly what you said to do.
Problem solved on both machines.
Good Call!!
