The Phaser 850 keeps initializing and warming up between every page (just text) - I've verified the voltage on the motherboard battery to be 3.1, any other ideas as to what could be causing this? (first page preview etc is not the issue) It really slows the printer down for printing multiple pages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

thanks - bill

Sounds like you may be loosing temp out of the p/head possibly caused by a misalignment. There should be no need to adjust the 850 (only the 840) do you know if this has ever been done?

nope this was never done.
Would there be any other side-effects?
Is there a way for me to look at the printer to verify if this is the problem and fix it?

I'm a certified HP tech, but not Tektronix, so I don't have an actual repair manual etc (do you know where I could purchase one?)

thanks for the help.

thanks - I assume this manual has more than the pdf files that you can download from the Xerox site?

How does Xerox send these out? - Why is it inktechnologies can have a service manual but we can't? - Where did they get it from? (if you know)

thanks - bill

Well the cover says:

"Phaser 840/850/860 Color Printer Service Manual with Phaser 8200 Color Printer Addendum"

Basically covers:
- General Information
- Error Codes and Messages
- Troubleshooting
- Diagnostics, Adjustments and NVRAM
- Test Prints
- Cleaning and Maintenance
- Key FRU Removal and Replacement
- FRU Parts List
- Phaser 8200 Color Printer Addendum
- Appendix

Overall about 266 pages..

Your drum heater maybe weak and not heating properly. It has 2 bulbs and one maybe out. Sometimes one will allow it to run but very slowly. Also you may want to ensure the drum temp sensor is clean, its held on by one screw and you can clean the underside.
