Phaser 850 DX white 'guide' found in maint tray

We found a white guide in the maintenance tray. It doesn't look broken or damaged. It appears to snap over a very small rod to protect a roller or sensor.

When resting on a surface, it is flat on the right(9/16"x5/16"). This side is also where it snaps over the rod. There is a rounded 'shield' that goes from the right to the left 9/16". The side and the shield are at a right angle.

Does anyone have an idea where this belongs? I have the printer partially apart to locate a rod small enough (1/8" dia) for this piece.

I cannot think of anywhere that would go. Are you having any problems with print quality or jamming?

Initially, the print quality was an issue. A new maint kit was installed. We had to replace the side rails for the maint tray. In the course of troubleshooting, this piece was found in the tray. BTW, I have to replace the tray as well. One of the lift tabs is broken.

I've looked at the various units as best I can and cannot seem to locate where it belongs.

Before realizing the tray was damaged, the paper would jam, slightly crooked, 1/2 under the rapid release guide (which is new) and the rest turned upward into the cover.

The part you have sounds like one of the locks for the cap/wipe/purge assembly, if you look at the c/w/p assembly you should see a lock just like the one you found on one end or the other. I hope this helps.

Thanks! That was it. They are actually on opposite corners to each other. I took 1/2 the printer apart before I realized where it really went.
