Hello,

I have been working on a Xerox Phaser 8400. The wax on print outs has been sticking to the drum (only around the right hand side) and pulling the print off the paper, causing the prints to eventually get stuck.

I replaced the drum, as the wax had got so bad on the old drum that it wasn't cleaning off. I also replaced the maintenance kit at the same time. The printer was working fine in our workshop so I returned it to the users and they have now reported that it has started to do the same thing.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Thanks in Advance,
Chris Nelson

Several posibilities. The cam on the drawer right side may be worn, or broken. Check the stripper finger assy. above the transfix roller. The transfix roller may be damaged.
The maintenence lifter may not be installed correctly.

Hi,

I have seen exactly these symtoms. In all three cases it was due to cracks in top of "Drum Maintenance Pivot Plate Assy" on right hand side of mc. When these cracks appear, the revolving cam that shold press/lift the maintenance tray can't lift it all the way and the drum doesn't get lubricated (from maintenance roller) properly. After some time the drum can't release all of the melted wax onto paper and you get your situation, the paper more and more often sticks to the drum.
Usually i clean the drum with silicone oil, replace the pivot plate and run 25 - 50 demopages.

Xerox partnr. for pivot plate assy: 367053181 (taken from a december 2005 manual)

Good luck !

Thank you both for the info!! Just taken another look at the Pivot Plate and it is cracked in the top right corner.

Thank you again!
