Printer never completely warms up-gets to 1% and then keeps rebooting. I know it could be several things but how do you narrow it down?

The most common cause of this is the power supply. If you can find one it is easy to replace. If you cannot find one you should look for your local Authorized Service Provider and call them directly. You can find a list here
The local ASP will charge you less then if you call Xerox directly.

hey xeroxtech-

are there any undocumented ways of unclogging an 8200 printhead? i have used only xerox colorstix and one week out of warranty the head starts clogging. tried the documented repairs to no avail. how about a source for a "refurbed" or used or cheap head? any help you can give is better than spending $1600.00 on a new head. might as well buy a new printer....bummer.

If you have only used Xerox ink then the total cost for the printhead replacement would be $550 under Xerox fixed fee program. List price for the printhead purchased by an ASP is $800. How many jets are you missing? There is a post script snippet that Xerox has on their site called "jetfix" which can be sent to the printer to try and clear stubborn missing jets. My info says this has been used with about a 60% success rate and should only be used for 2-3 missing jets.

Marty-

You da man. Didn't know about the fixed fee program 'cause when I call them, they told me 1600.00 and so did not pursue it. Do you have a link for the snippet so I can try that?

Thanx

Unfortunately the jetfix snippet is only avaiable to ASPs for download. Send me an email and I can try and send you the zip file which contains the snippet.

Getting back to the original thread...I have replaced the power supply, but it still at least once rebooted during warm-up cycle. Any more help would be appreciated!

Yes, it makes it past most of the time. Sometimes it reboots when printing the graphic demonstration though. It's not consistent enough for me to be able to pinpoint it. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I've tried shutting it down after it works successfully to see if it will fail on the next power up cycle, but am really using a lot of ink that way. I need some kind of direction for proper diagnosis for an intermittent fault. Thanks!

Are you getting a fault code? Most errors are not intermittent , if something has failed it usually does not work part of the time. Check your fault history and let me know what you find.

There are only 2 faults in history: 8-10 are 04,021.42 and 11-15 are 22,024.01. Understandable if isn't shut down properly I think. Which it isn't because it justs reboots itself. I put the old power supply back in it for the second time and so far it hasn't done anything odd this morning ... yet!

have phaser8200dp and am getting error# 07005.47.92677.
xerox has been no help in providing info-just call service
the tell me.

Spyder, you have a failed dmc clutch, you probably still have the older style installed. Replacing the clutch p/n 650428800 should resolve teh problem. Also remove the maintenance drawer and look at the lift pins on the side, if they have a notch worn into the ends of them the maint tray will most likely require replacement at the same time. That p/n is 436035901.
