Have Phaser 8200 that had an extended maintenance kit installed in October '04 at around 35,000 pages. Now am getting message that says change maintenace kit in 20 days! It now has a page count of around 44,000 pages. What gives? Also the date it says these were installed is 1970! What happened? Is there a way to change/correct this info?

I've seen this before (think it was on another model)but couldn't reset it. not all bad news as the printer should keep on printing when the time runs out if my memory serves me right. The smalll plastic box on the front of the maintenance drawer is the culprit its a timer.

The date is the key issue with this problem. The maintenance kits have a dated shelf life of about 15 months due to possibility of teh oil drying out. Since the date is wrong it immediately thinks the kit is past life. If the printer is connected via ethernet simply type the ip address into the browser address window, this will call up the centreware IS application and from here you can change the date of teh printer. You will need to explore the menus of this , I dont recall exactly where it is.
