Hi

our Phaser 6250 has a problem printing black. When printing text or images it does print in gray instead of black. All other colors are printed normally. Since the prob als occures whit pages printed directly from frontpanel (e.g. startuppage, diagnostics ...) it doesn't seem to be a driver-related prob.

I already changed toner, imaging unit and fuser, and did a factory reset of the printer settings.
Didn't help.

Any ideas ?

On the right side of the Imaging Unit there are 4 white gears. Each gear has one silver retaining pin. The bottom one is for the black. See if this is missing. if it is then there is the problem

Thanx

all gears all there and no pin is missing.

But still same problem.

Hold the back and info button down when powering up, this should put printer into diags. Run the toner dispense motors, compare the black to cyan. The dispense motor maybe binding. you can remove teh toner cartridge and watch for the auger to turn. Toner may either be clogged in the tube or toner cartridge. Use something to fish down into the auger tube with the toner removed to try and break uo the toner, then tape over the opening and again run the black toner motor. If this doesn't help then the black toner dispense may need replacing.
