Anyone have a Phaser 560 connected to a Mac G4 with OSX? Would like suggestions for the best way to do this. Currently the Phaser printer is connected to an IBM PC compatible computer using the parallel port. Available on the market are USB to parallel cables but they specify Windows compatibility only. I'll assume it's because of the software that comes with the cables to make the USB work with parallel port printers? -- TTLiem

I have a 760 extended which I connected to a G4 via Phasershare E-net card.

Thanks, rkay. I installed the Xerox_Legacy_PPDs_v1.0 software for Macs from Xerox and tried using a USB to parallel cable. My 560 was recognized, the printer panel indicates receiving data, but then nothing...and the ready indicator comes back on.

My unused Phasershare card has one DIN Localtalk port and one serial port. I suppose there's another type I need to buy that has an Ethernet port on it like yours. The Xerox webpage I found describing the Phasershare software only supports Windows. What (Phaser?) software was a required installation on your G4 OSX to make your printer work?

Phaser 560 requires the Xerox Legacy ppds to be installed, downloadable from Xerox. Go to the Xerox 560 support page and link to drivers. Then use the Print Center. You also need to connect via ethernet using either of the available Phasershare cards. You may also need to reset the printer.
