My Phaser 360 warms up, comes ready, and runs a test page through with no errors, but no ink is on the page. The reservoirs are empty, the inkstix are fine, but no melting is taking place. I have voltage to all the heaters except the melt heaters,at the test points on the power supply board. I have swapped out the power supply, the power control board, the ink loader, and main board with no change. Have not had the printhead or interconnect board out yet- any ideas or suggestions?

And not getting any error messages at all? very odd. it could simply be that the surface of the ink block is not touching the ceramic heater plate - try removing all blocks & sections of block (even if they seem to be stuck fast) and reload. Tektronix recomend not reinstalling partialy used blocks although if you do reuse any turn them round so that the non-melted edge hits the plate first. Also do avoid using any block that is smaller than 1/4 of a block.

If the first page is blank how can you be sure it is a test page and not just a page intended to clear any residual image that may or may not be left on the drum?

Already did the removal of blocks procedure, and even swapped out the ink loader assembly with a known good one. The test page I referred to were config page, demo page, and cleaning page. All blank except for a very minor streak here & there intermittently. I suspect a failure in the printhead, but whatever that failure is, it affects all colors and all the reservoirs. I have the service manual, but do not see any reference to what to expect on the teat points on the power board. If I had this information, it may be helpful.- Thanks.

check on the printhead if the inklevel detectors are connected. where to find. Remove inkloader, and onder this you will find the printhead. On the printhead in the middle you find an 8 pin connector. se thad this connector is connected to the printhead. If connected replace printhead. It seems thad the inklevels are full and no ink is melting to the reservoirs. Look also in the waste ink basket at the maintdrawer, is there ik in this basket after a cleaning or warmup. I have an 8200DP that is doing exactly the same thing, blank demo pages etc, with minor ink spots/lines. Tried cleaning cycles to no avail. Almost no ink in B tray.

What I do not understand is that it was in for a different problem, (error 07,002.44) that I fixed, and now it seems to need a new printhead??

I don't know where to go from here? Does anyone have p/n for printhead? Thanks, Rob.

Rob,
IS there ink in your printhead reservoir? If the cap/wipe/purge assy has a bad gasket and does not provide a good seal during cleaning cycles what you describe is exactly what will happen. Also make sure the tubing from the vacuum pump is not kinked or leaking via a split and that the metal tube to the c/w/p assy is fully seated into the hose.

Marty,
Thanks for the quick reply, There is almost no ink in the 4 reservoirs. After I wrote last night, the rubber toothed c/w/p drive belt on lhs came apart again. The c/w/p has ink/wax on the gasket & all over, but is not torn or split. I did find an adhesive on the face of the printhead, similar to the stickly labels I had cleaned off the paper guide path earlier. This could have stopped a good vacumn seal. Tubing is OK. Funny thing is after I cleaned out sticky labels the printer ran tests ok 1st time (last Thur). It was only after shutdown and restart that this new problem occured.

I will clean surface of printhead and c/w/p gasket and line up drive belt again and see what happens. thanks Rob.
