I recently obtained a Phaser 340 off surplus. My problem is the printer displays "Fault 07,0004.46:21038" and "service required" and refuses to start up. The Tektronix web site said to change the maintenance tray, which I did and if that didn't work the printer would need service. My dilemma is that I got the printer really cheap and a don't know if it would be worth taking in for service. Can anyone tell me what this error really means or where I could find some type of service manual for this printer? Any help would be appreciated.

i think it could be the fuser unit, how long until the error comes up on the display?

This printer does not have a fuser. There is a problem with a sensor in the paper preheater assembly.

I have a Tektronix Phaser TM 340 Printer. I keep on getting the message Fault 04,013.43:30269. that it needs repair service. What does this mean?

I am also having the same issue with a Tektronix Phaser 340 Printer. Fault: 04,013.43:30269

Xerox say to power the machine on and off and if this doesnt fix it, to take it in for service.

I am a qualified technician and able to repair the fault, if I can find out what part of the printer is actually the problem.

Any ideas anyone??

During power-on initialization, the engine is unable to disengage the
process motor. Prior to declaring this fault, the engine has attempted to
move the process motor through enough revolutions to disengage the
head tilt mechanism, but the motor stalled. The X axis was then
displaced to the right 0.15 inches and the disengage was repeated, but
the motor stalled again. This fault is then declared. The head is unable
to move on its tilt axis, perhaps because it is colliding with something
(head restraint pin, cap, poorly installed ink loader, screwdriver.)

No transitions are observed of the drum maintenance cam sensor. The
sensor may be bad or the drum maintenance cam may be jammed.

Is there a way that a manual can be opened up on the web or e-mail so that we can actual view parts of the printer that needs to be fixed?

Is there someone in the Austin area that works on these printers? If so could I get an e-mail, telephone number or address of this person or company?
