Hi guys,

Currently doing some admin on our RS6000 server. And came across a rogue file in the /home directory.

I cannot rm the file. Even encapsulating it around speech marks.

Also when you run istat <filename> there doesn't appear to be an inode number against the file.

I take it this will disapear witha reboot ?

You could also always do a:

ls -al | cat -ev

This will show you the non-printing characters, and EOL for the filename.

-D.

there is a -b flag on ls, which gives octal for non-printing chars, and -q displays non-printing chars as ?. combine that with the -i and you get the inode for the suspect file. call me nuts, but this method is faster for me than hitting Y all day.

ls -ib
ls -lib
