Phantom Dialing?

I have a station that for some reason dials 911, somewhat randomly. By somewhat I mean it has no pattern other than it happens on a Sunday. It doesn't happen weekly, biweekly, monthly, it's a completely random Sunday.

No autodial buttons exist. No list is setup nor assigned to the station.

No one is around when it happens.

Any thoughts?

If you have a security system that has card access, check with facilities to see who is in the building. If not... or if you are without a doubt that your building is empty.... your building could be haunted... fun fun on that one.

I’ve had the same issue, someone dialing 911 and not knowing why or how (ip phones in a foreign country). I created a restricted COR with 911 on the restricted call list.
 
I can't restrict 911, we're a hospital must be able to call it from any available phone.

Sadly we don't have any access control, it is something in the works though.

My CEO was in on Sunday when it happened, and she said no one was in that section of the hospital. That area doesn't operate on the weekends, so there shouldn't be anyone in there anyways.

I have no idea what could be causing it, but the police are becoming very annoyed.
 
Set up crisis alert. Put the button on your phone. Next time the ghost dials 911 the display on your set will tell you what extension dialed it.

Worth a try.

Do you have eCas or another call accounting system? If so, set up an alert to notify you when someone calls 911, or at least do a search on the call records to see if someone is calling 911. It may be a case of bad records by the LEC or the PSAP. If you are not convinced that someone in your building is calling 911, then get the LEC and the PSAP involved, since eventually they will start charging you for the dispatches. Let's face it, records are not always kept up to date.
 
Do you have management tools such as the monitor program?
I suggest using it. Catch where it is running from.

I'll have to give the crisis alert a try, but otherwise, no monitoring tools of any kind. Only software I have is the Avaya Site Administration software.

I don't know phone systems very well at all, so unless there's an option in the phone system to log/monitor calls that I can turn on, I think I'm outta luck on that one.
