Hello all!

I have a CICS installed (4.0) 8 sets and 8 lines, and for a couple of years now, every once in a while while my client is on the phone thier conversation was cut off by “Incoming Call”. It displayed INCOMING CALL on thier display and then Line #2 rang into the office..
Anyone ever seen or heard this.

It is not line specific ,happens on lines 1-8
I just used line 1 as an example..

Let me re-phrase

You are are on a call (on any one line 1-8)

another call rings in

The display says incomming call (as it always does, because this programmed as a ringing set)

A mysterious womens voice, interupts my current call and says " incoming call" then I am connected to my original caller.

There are no other devices on the system ie fax machines, cordless phones etc....

There is no voicemail (call Pilot etc...)

They do have Bell Call Answer

And are on Bell Canada 1fl lines.

Definitely sounds like a CO issue. I'd test with a butt set at the demarc.

The other question, are the lines assigned to ring only? It may be easier to track these issues if they had line appearances.

CICS has an AA built in but sure its not the one answering.

Perhaps Call Waiting from the Telco?
If it's that....
Try Feature 71 the next time and see if it connects to the incomming call, if so press F71 again to return to orignal call.

LIGHT BULB????????????????????????????????????????????????

Curly and Rik!

Thanks for your replys, I have tried everything, I agree it does sound like a CO issue, however, Bell Canada has investigated thier end and says it is not a co problem (surprise surprise)

NETWET, Not sure what your eluding to but Fwd no answer?? Light Bulb?? "in the head??

Thanks Guys for your support!

The CICS comes with a built in auto attendant. It will not take messages, but it will answer and direct a call. Make sure this feature is turned off.

In your mailbox if you have your transfer type set to "screened" as opposed to "blind" you might get an announcement like that.

the CICS does not have any pre-recorded voice announcements on it so the womans voice announcing is coming from outside the phone system.

I suspect that the bell call answer you alluded to earlier may be the culprit.

to prove this I can only suggest you get on line 1 at the demark with a test set (disconnect the line from the building wiring) and call your cell phone. stay on that call and start hitting the main number with more calls eventually you will get the announcement. If you cannot duplicate the problem then hook it back up to the phone system and again call yourself on line 1 and hit the main number with calls to see if the announcement shows up(it is possible that there is something else in the building that is making the announcement but I cannot think of what it may be).
