I have noticed that if I run pestpatrol with Kaspersky active as soon as it starts running Kaspersky starts detecting trojans. One of the guys in the office has told me that PP installs spyware. I beleive him as these are the guys that do penetration testing etc. Is anyone else aware of this or come across it before, Is there a way of stopping it as I have paid for this software and I don't want antispyware spying on me.

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

Assuming you got Pestpatrol from a reliable source and it's not a malware masquerading as the real program (like the various Ad-aware knockoffs running around), it's a decent and safe program.
It does not install spyware and is ok at detecting it.

A possible cause for the detections, however:
Is Pestpatrol finding items and quaranteening them into a directory that Kaspersky is seeing them be created in?

I purchased PP from the CA website. when I run PP kaspersky finds trojans in the temp internet folders. I played around and deleted all temp internet folders and then ran kaspersky- everything was clean. I then disconnected from the internet and started PP, kaspersky again started finding trojans in temp internet folders. How if kaspersky has passed everything and I have deleted temp folders have (a) temp folders been created (I didn't open web pages) and (b) after kaspersky found pc clean did it start finding trojans after starting PP. Kaspersky is running active scan when it finds these.

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

Hi there,

PP uses definitions for comparison, which in fact activate a few AntiVirus progs into thinking that there is an invasion...

I personally, disklike PP, and use others to take care of my Spyware probs, as they are mostly free... also I always take a close look at my Registry and Autostart progies, as then I am sure that I won't have a prob...

Ben

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...
