I just upgraded to Windows from windows 98. I just installed my pervasive odbc connectivity for btrieve 6.15 version 2.04. When i go into the administrator and try to connect to my database i'm getting an error. Does the pervasive 2.04 work with windows 2000 pro?

I meant Windows XP! I upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP professional.

Btrieve 6.15 and ODBC 2.04 were never tested with Windows 2000 or Windows XP according to Pervasive. I have seen the Btrieve 6.15 workstation engine work on Windows 2000 and XP but haven't tried the ODBC. What is the error you are getting? mirtheil@mirtheil.com

Thanks for the response. The workstation btrieve 6.15 is running fine on the XP machine. I know this because i have tested the program that uses btrieve (Yardi Systems - a real estate accounting program) and is working fine. But I write Crystal Reports off this database using the pervasive btrieve connectivity. I'm not sure what the error is i will check tomorrow morning but it happens when i try to setup the user dsn. I name it and find the ddf file but when i hit save XP reports and error and pervasive administrative locks up. I have never had that problem on WIndows 95 or Windows 98. Any help would by appreciated. I don't want to have to stay on 98 just because of this problem.

Hello,

I suppose you're accessing a Btrieve 6.15 database that is on a Windows NT or W2K server, don't you?!?
If so, the only way to get rid of that error is to install the Pervasive client (ws or wge). The ODBC administrator will never hang up and your problem will be solved.
Then to give mirtheil some information (you helped me a lot in the past) I've allready tried ODBC driver 2.04 on both W2K and XP machine that access to btrieve 6.15. But that works only if the database is on a NetWare server...
That's just for the story

He guys, ODBC driver 2.04 and Btrieve 6.x work fine on Windows XP without any Pervasive client. I link SureTrak ddf's to Access all the time. I would like to see the error as well. Did you remember to get all your Windows XP updates?

I would like where can I get the ODBC driver for accessing Btrieve 6.15?

The Btrieve v6.15 ODBC driver from Pervasive was a separate diskette from the engine and came with the engine in later releases. DataDirect (formerly Intersolv and Merant) had a driver but I'm not sure if it'll work with 6.15.
I would recommend upgrading to Pervasive.SQL 2000i if you really want to do ODBC. Btrieve v6.15 is no longer supported any longer and was never tested on Windows 2000 or XP.

Depending on what you are doing, you may not need an ODBC driver. Crystal reports for example gives you the ability to directly read .ddf files without an ODBC driver.

I have Btrieve 7 and I get an error when I try to connect to a database from XP. Works fine with 2000 and NT. Is this client supported under XP? If so, any ideas on how to get it working?

Btrieve 7 was not tested or supported on Windows XP. Only Pervasive.SQL 2000 is supported on XP. That being said, it is possible to run 7.0 on XP. What error are you getting? Where's the data? Is this ODBC or Btrieve?
