Hello, Im new to sharepoint and have set up an intranet v2. When a reader accesses the site they can read everything but they can also see toolbars which i dont think they should. such as, "+add a commment"

New Document, Edit Document etc.....

how could i restrict the view????

Many Thanks
Sean

Are you using MOSS 2007 or SPS 2003? The two products works very different. in the 2003 version you do not have all that much settings which allows you to hide things. You have some if you are using SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (SPS).

Cheers,
Thomas

Hi

thanks for the reply. we are using WSS v2 at the moment on 2003. we do have the new v3 will this help me with changing the toolbar bar permissions etc...

Cheers

In MOSS 2007 (WSS v3), permissions can be set on item level. Which means a user only see what the user have access to. So WSS v3 is a huge improvement from WSS v2 in this matter.

Cheersm,
Thomas
