permission problem tunneling with cable

I have a MS VPN setup with Win 2k server and Win98 clients. The connection is made using dial-up, cable or DSL accounts. But I get the error - " access denied" to the server volume when I tunnel using the cable connection. I can find the server using "Find Computer" in the network neighborhood, but it asks for a password to the shared folder. I am not blocking access on Win 2k server to any particular mode of access, that I am aware of.. I am logging in as administrator or administrator equivalent. It just seems to be a problem only with the cable connection. I am troubleshooting this with just a straight connection - no gateway routers, NAT, or firewalls. I would appreciate any guidance on this issue. thank you

Problem solved but had to use a procedure that was unnecessary using DSL or Dial-up - Crazy. If anyone has a similar problem let me know, and I'll tell you what I did.

I had a problem setting up a vpn using win2k server, connected to the internet via a cable modem. I'd appreciate some info on how to overcome this obstacle.

What is your specific problem? Are you getting any particular error at the client end? Are you logging on to the server? Can you see browse the network? Is the server denying access to shared resources? Are your clients getting an IP address from the server? I'll be glad to help if I can. Let me know where to start.

I'm attempting to set up a VPN running Win2K server-connected to the internet via a cable modem. I've been told that the cable modem is the problem. I used the CMAK to create a setup file for clients, but when I attempt to connect, I get an error message saying that my computer and the remote server could not agree on a control protocol.
What is required to make a successful connection?

I know thats a pretty broad question, but I would appreciate if you can point me at any good info on the web.

TRY and pass the domain credentials, domainname\username then password

I had a similar problem. I played around with passwords also and turned out to be able to login using the AD Admin password. Wierd!
