Background:
Target client PC has Windows 2000 Professional SP3 and SMS 2003 Advanced client installed. I have build a PACKAGE with corrisponding ADVERTISEMENT to install SP4 for Windows 2000 using the package definition file W2KSP4.SMS provided by Microsoft.
Problem:
Unable to get SP4 installed, when the advertisement/package is running, get the following message on the client PC:
SETUP ERROR
YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO UPDATE WINDOWS 2000.
PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR.
Appears issue is permissions related. Advertisement/package is running under NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. Changed package to RUN WITH USER'S RIGHTS instead of RUN WITH ADMINISTRATIVE RIGHTS. Then logoned on to client PC as Local Administrator. Reran the package - it worked.
Question:
What permission do I need to change to allow a service pack to be installed in the "background" regardless of the logged on user's rights?
