Im trying to setup a demo site for a client and what im wanting to do is set it so that each employee can only view their own documents they uploaded and admins or auditors that do document approval can see everybodys documents.

Is there a way to do this with WSS v3.0? I have the document approval setting on so documents uploaded have to be approved, but i dont want john doe to upload his billing invoices and then jane smith comes along right behind and goes thru his stuff. This client cant have that, so i need some kind of permission settings.

This might be a pain, but would probably work..

Create a folder for each associate and trim the permissions on that folder so that only the user and admins have access to it. When they go into the document library, they will only see their folder and be able to upload to it. The admins / auditors would be able to see all folders.

This becomes a little difficult if you have 10,000 associates, but if it is only 5-10 it isn't a big deal.

theres probably atleast 100+ employees spread out over texas and arkansas. is there any other way to do this or am i just stuck unless i change to moss?

hey,

just a shot at this.

create only one view, basically the author's view for this list. Remove the other views. Therefore anyone accessing the list can always see only their items.

Now for auditor's create a seperate page and list the documents in a custom webpart (so that you can display all items). You can set the settings of this page so that only auditors can access it...

forgot to mention.

if the user somehow got the link to the other documents, then he can still see it :(
