Can someone point me to where I can download Perl for Win98SE's PWS?

I hear its just a case of popping the files in a directory, fidling with a RegEdit key and creating file assosiations to .pl files in Windows. Any advice out there?

And is installing modules easy? Need to install the lib

Thnx folks,

Will

Hi,

Try here:
I have installed this before & it was easy, but I never really used it in anger as I work primary on Linux. However, I'm led to believe that you can't just use modules direct from CPAN. This site has a list of all modules available for ActivePerl & can be installed with a utility called Perl Package Manager (PPM). Full details are on the site.

HTH.

ActiveState Perl really installs itself. All you need to do is to be sure that the file type is set if you want to use the .cgi extension since it usually defaults to only .pl. But on the older versions of Windows up to and including NT, you need to install IIS (I don't know if it comes with Windows98 or PWS) and use the IIS manager to associate the perl executable - as far as I can tell, you can't do it from PWS's manager. The place you do it is kind of hidden away behind several layers of buttons and/or tabs and off hand, I don't recall exactly how to get to it in the IIS manager. Once installed, there is no need to worry about the [tt]!#/user/bin/perl[/tt] on the tops of the scripts because IIS and PWS do not use it. I've never needed any additional modules so I cannot address that part of the question. Don
