I have a Palm IIIx that more often is not responding to screen input. The buttons work but the screen does not. If I hit the reset button, it usually comes back. SOmetimes I have to hit it twice. Is it dying?

This is a problem with your digitizer. I hope I didn't get you wrong, you said that when the problem happens, you do a reset (sometimes 2) and the problem is resolved only to come back and plague you once again, is that what you meant??? First, it might be a hardware fault, but I think it got more to do with some software conflict you got there.

I suggest you make a total backup of all your data and applications in your Palm. Use a backup solution called BackupBuddy by Blue Nomad to do a complete backup. After you done that, do a WARM reset, NOT the HARD reset. Refer to you manual if you don't know how to perform a warm reset. The warm reset is something like the safe boot mode of Windows 9.x. If the problem got to do with software conflicts, the warm reset should settle the problem. If it does settle, then you would need to find out which are the culprits. Start from hacks and grafitti enhancement utilities.

If however it still persist, do a hard reset this time and see how it goes. If it still persists, then you gotta start shopping for a new Palm.
