performance of SQL statement vs query

Would I get better performance by wither embedding a SQL statement into a DoCmd.RunSQL statement or by calling up a query with a DoCmd.OpenQuery?

I use the DoCmd.RunSQL... I just read somewhere (I think on this board), about a debate on which was faster... I think the DoCmd.RunSQL was deemed the faster of the 2.
