Anybody know of a good "cheap" or "free" performance monitor other than SAR?

You could try I/Watch from Quest Software. It can be used for monitoring Unix, NT and most main RDBs. support@quests.com
I forgot to mention there are other tools (depending on flavour).
As wll as sar you can use ps, pstat, iostat, and vmstat.

Hi,

You might wish to try the graphical version
perfmeter. If you are running X-Windows:

/usr/openwin/bin/perfmeter

It is part of the default installation of
Solaris 2.5.x - 2.7
