Hi

Does anyone know where to find Performance Management (on ADS) on a HiPath 4000 V6? It seemed to have dropped off the list on the homepage.

PS: Performance Management application is enabled (Applications).

Seems like it is only available using the HiPath 4000 Manager? Is there any way that I can make reports as we did in previous versions without a HiPath 4000 Manager?

If your system is stable, and PM has been enabled properly, then PM should be present in V6 Assistant. After you enable it in Application Control, you must reload the browser at least once, perhaps twice or thrice, OR logoff/logon Assistant. It may have relocated to Diagnostics - cannot recall.

Collecting Agent will be needed as well. It provides the data from CDR to PM.

Thanks Iamnothere

No luck, everything is enabled and still no Performance Management in V6.0. I have two systems and they both are behaving the same.

Are your systems patched to the latest greatest hotfix? Please post the ITIL-compliant version info for RMX, Assistant, Platform, and CSTA. They are posted in the Assistant right-pane - somewhere.

Is your system licensed properly? Or are you running on a 30-day grace period? If your system is cPCI Duplex, you need two licenses (primary & secondary).

Go to Assistant > Base Admin > WebMin > Application Status (working from memory - I believe that is correct). This page should provide info similar to the old "procadmin -l" command. Do you see the groups "COL" and "PM" are "active", and all sub-components of each group are "active"?

Iamnothere,

Component Version
Platform V6 R1.10.7
Assistant V6 R1.11.5
RMX V6 R1.10.33
CSTA V1 R11.202.5
SoftGate on Platform Not installed
HiPath FM HPFM_4 R3.10.02

Its a Duplex which is fully licensed, "Grace Period = No"
Yes, it does need two licenses, and they are both okay.

The procadmin like process listing can be seen under UBA-> Webmin-> Application Processes of simply clicking on the "i" of Hipath and selecting State of Application Processes. All PM and COL processes are active. All processes in the list are either active or registered.

Thanks for the help though. Maybe it will be resolved in the next round of latest and greatest hotfixes.

I have the same Platform and Assistant hotfixes installed. My RMX and CSTA is newer than yours, but neither of those should effect PM.
PM and COL work fine on Assistant V6 here. Perhaps you need to restart the Assistant virtual machine - after-hours, of course.

I have restarted, but still no luck. Is there a way of reinstalling Assistant VM without the system automatically trying to reinstall the updates? I.e base Assistant reinstall. I will then manually reinstall via software activation tool.

The Reinstall Assistant feature trys to reinstall updates automatically.

try turning it off in "application control" then turning it back on?

Thanks sbcsu

I have already tried this. PM still doesnt appear. Some packages under detailed info indicates PM has not installed properly. As Iamnothere has indicated, I have a feeling that Assistant is not installed properly.

However I would like to install Assistant base package ie V6 R1.11.50 and upgrade manually.

Any ideas on how to do this. Previously you would use RS232 null cable and reboot unit. Once it boots and with hyperterminal you could stop and reinstall Unix/ Assistant. Now VM is involved... A bit more tricky. Rebooting SSH Assistant does not provide indication of boot sequence.

Please be careful. I highly suggest that anyone in this scenario contact SEN at this point. I cannot "chat" you through this scenario. Assistant can be manually re-installed via the Portal. If you do not know the Portal's IP address, press the small black button directly beside the primary DSCXL2 server's OLED display panel (cPCI slot 1) until you see the Assistant & Portal IP addresses. From a CLIENT PC, launch a V6-compatible and "Client Prepared" browser (correct JRE, certificates, etc) to the Portal's IP address. NEVER use the Linux console port for anything other than character-based mode (Linux run-level 3). In the Portal, I cannot remember specifically where this "re-install" button is, as it was only recently added. Previously Assistant would "self re-install" if it detected internal problems.
IMPORTANT: do not attempt any of this unless you are 100% familiar with the new V6 backups, and all of these backups are ALREADY current, and you know how to access them and use them. You can make an absolute MESS here. The best decision is to request BLS assistance BEFORE experimenting rather than AFTER the entire system requires re-installation.
