Hi,
not sure if i have to post here or in lotus forum.

I'm running lotus notes server (6.5.4) on redhat enterprise linux advanced server 3 upd 3.
Server has 2 cpu Intel(R) XEON(TM) MP CPU 1.90GHz, 3 gb ram and 8 gb ram on internal disks.
As I've already said on this system there's lotus notes running with its http server.
Lotus data are on an external storage (fastt) accessed with RDAC drivers and lotus archive data are on another storage, nas.

The problem is that on this system lotus often hangs. At that time I see 100% iowait: if I try to do an ls on the external data storage (fastt) command hangs.
I think there can be a problem with rdac driver maybe but I don't know how to be sure about this.

There are also performance problems (cpu and ram) on it. I think I need newer hardware because I see that cpu is much stressed and also ram:

What do you think about this?
The most cpu consuming processes are lotus notes related (http, server, update).
Unfortunately I know nothing about notes and rdac.
Please advice, thanks.

Hi,
can anyone please just tell if column procs r of vmstat output is ok?
Thanks

Not sure... But have you checked how big your swap space is? Another thing to make sure is that you don't have a filesystem at 100%? (df -h).

Not sure outside of the regular i/o checks... alot of swapping will show that your swap space is too small... maybe you will have to make it much larger?

Just a guess - Hope it triggers a few other ideas!!

You can run the command below here:
# top

And trying to see which process has used a lot of your memory.
Maybe you can kill the process if you don't need that process.
Good Luck.....:)

Cheers.....
