Perfmon to remote machine doesn't work

Hello,

I have a problem with connecting to some w2k3 servers using perfmon, I get an error message saying "unable to connect to machine". For example:
ServerA tries to get performance counters from serverB using perfmon but fails. ServerB however, can successfully get performance data from ant other machine on the network. So it's more like one-way situation, ServerB can fetch performancecounters but not deliver to other servers.

I've run wmidiag.vbs on one of the failing machines and it says that wmi is working fine. I've also tried restarting the "remote registry" and "Windows Management Instrumentation" service, but it didn't solve the problem. I've also checked securitysettings for the "root\perfmon" namespace and it doesn't differ from a working machine.

Any ideas?

Check the service "Performance Logs and Alerts" to see if it is running under a specific user ID. Also ensure that the User ID you are using is a member of the local group "Performance Monitor Users" if the account does not have local admin access.

I think I've solved this by adding "local service" to access list and granting it "read" access to the following key in the registry:
"hklm\software\microsoft\windows nt\currenversion\Perflib"

After doing that I could connect to these computetrs using perfmon.

On another machine I had to grant read acces to the local service on this registry key:
"HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\control\Secure\SecurePipeServer\winreg". For remote perfmon to work.
