Perfmon - Objects, Counters, Instances only listed as numbers

I have a Windows 2003 Server system and I was about to setup perfmon monitoring and I am finding out that none of the "normal" objects are listed. By "normal", I mean standard ones like Process, Processes, and Server. Instead, all I am seeing are different sets of numbers listed. I've done quite a bit of perfmon monitoring in the past and have never run into this before. Has anyone seen this before? If so, was there a workaround you used to get it back to normal?
