Peculiar problem accessing data in DBF

As I noted in a thread yesterday, I have just acquired a PC and have been setting it up with VFP 9.0 SP2. Mostly things are working but I'm encountering a head scratching problem:

My home PCs access data stored on my NAS. This particular PC I just set up, a laptop running Vista Business, won't have internet access or a network where it's going to be deployed. I have copied the network DBFs to the laptop where the app will run against that local data. This seems to be working alright but for one table, which has 6 records presently, when I go into the table's MEMO field for any record, the second I hit my down arrow or pagedown to scroll into the information, I find myself looking at the MEMO field for the first record in the table. There are no deleted records. Thinking it might be a data corruption issue with the version of the table on the local machine, I copied the networked version back to the local machine, but the strange behavior continues. I just opened the table exclusively, packed it, the behavior continues. Any record's MEMO field shows up but the second I try to navigate within it I'm on the first record's memo field. What could be at play here? Suggestions/info appreciated.

Well, I suppose I could create a short video, but it should be easy enough to imagine from my description. There's no ambiguity. If you have a question, ask it.

I access the memo field in any of 3 ways:

1. Double click "Memo" as seen in the browse window.
2. Put mouse cursor into "Memo" in the browse window and press Ctrl+PgUp.
3. Put mouse cursor into "Memo" in the browse window and press Ctrl+PgDn.

Once the memo editing window appears, the blinking mouse cursor is positioned just before the first character in the field, i.e. at the top left corner.

The instant I press any arrow key or PgDn or click the mouse anywhere inside the memo, the screen transforms completely and I'm looking at the memo field for a different record in the table. In that record I can navigate and add/change text and save.

I think this description is comprehensive and should be understandable. If you have questions, please ask. It only happens with this one Vista Business laptop with VFP 9.0 installed. Using VFP 7.0 on the same computer, I have not seen this behavior.

Olaf, there is no copying of any kind going on when this behavior is happening.
