customer id

because i plan to import these transaction from a non peachtree application which is a sales order processing system which was designed by an inhouse programmer.

i open all the dat files in microsoft excel but all i am getting is machine code in these files

help would be appriciated

Not to sound pessimistic but...good luck :) I had a similar problem with a client for whom I was developing a inventory tracking/management system. They wanted it to import and export from peachtree 2000, the system they had been using for some time.

Peachtree 2000 db is a btrieve based db with few if any ODBC or ADODB drivers/interfaces etc. Also, Peachtree/Sage/Best/Whatever they are called now has not (or had not yet about a year ago) released any kind of db model, SDK, or programmer interface for PT2000 that I could find.

The solution for my client was to move to a Great Plains solution which was easily interfaced with outlook 2000 ect. This was cheaper for them as the amout of time to create a workable soution for PT2000 was too much. (They were too large for Peachtree anyway)

I have developed solutions like this for Peachtree Complete for Windows v2002 using PAWCOM a third party interface to peachtree from Multiware Inc. (But this is only if you are a smaller company and can use Pechtree 2002. This is what I use and would work for companies up to about 10 employees.

The next step up from Peachtree is Best Software's BusinessWorks. Or with MS Great Plains: Small Business Manager (smaller companies), and Dynamics (small to mid).

sorry I couldn't help with your direct issue.

SO YOU KNOW WHAT I DID I PUT ALL HIS INVOICE IN ASCII FORMAT AND I IMPORT IT. IT WORKS BUT THERE IS A LOT OF IMPORTING AND EXPORTING
