Since upgrading to Acrobat 7, PDF files will not open within IE6. I can view the PDF pages as they download but once they all finish, the whole window goes blank. If, in the Acrobat Edit Preferences Internet, I deselect the "Display PDF in Browser", then the PDF will open up, but it is then in Acrobat 7, not in the browser. I've gone through all the suggestions posted on Adobes web site in documents 328233 and 331025 but so far nothing has restored the plug-in ability.

Going to ProgramFiles\InternetExplorer\Plugins\ I find the files below which all seem to be QuickTime files.

The really odd thing to me is, as I originally reported, the PDFs seem to be downloading properly since each page is displayed as it downloads and only when the last page is about to finish, the whold page goes blank.

I use Acrobat 6 pro on OSX. Interestingly, when I loaded that into the machine, it did not install a browser plugin. I couldn't view pdfs within a browser. I solved that by downloading and installing Reader from Acrobat. It installed the plugin.
You might try downloading Reader 7 from Adobe's site and see if that solves the problem.
Also, if you did any OS upgrades, you might have to reinstall certain things. Upgrades, to any OS, do have a habit of breaking certain things. 2 weeks ago I downloaded and installed an OSX upgrade. I had to reinstall, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, and my auto backup program. Photoshop had lost it's javascript folder, Acrobat pro lost PDF Writer, and SpeedTools (backup) lost its automatic features.
You might try downloading Reader 7 from Adobe's site and see if that solves the problem.

I actually already did download and install Acrobat Reader 7 but that made no difference. I also reinstalled Acrobat 7 Pro but to no avail. Although I never used it before, I found this morning that the PDF Maker within MS Word doesn't work either. I just get a message that I need to reinstall Acrobat 7. I've had a problem from the beginning with Acrobat 7. I couldn't get it to install from the CD. It would go so far and then request that I insert the CD which was, of course, already inserted. Anyway, Adobe tech support finally had me copy the entire CD contents to my hard drive and it did install it from there. Unfortunately, I've still had this problem with the IE plug-in. Maybe I'll try the reinstall one more time.
I had the same problem. Only Acrobat Reader 7 worked fine, after installing Acrobat Pro7, reading pdf files in the browser window was no more possible since the whole window went blank after loading the file. I could not open a pdf file in any browser (IE, Firefox, K-Meleon).
I tried several things, e. g. reinstalling Adobe Pro, uninstalling Reader). Only thing that worked was to uninstall Adobe Pro and to work only with the Reader. Not a good solution.

I had the problem where NONE of the versions of Acrobat would load or run, they all seemed to stall. 4,5,6 and 7. The solution is simple.

Solution 1: Delete the temporary files that Acrobat or Adobe Reader creates, and then install the update or upgrade.
Acrobat 6.0 and Adobe Reader 6.0 may not delete the temporary files that they create during normal processes, such as filling in forms. Because Acrobat and Adobe Reader check temporary files at startup, an excess of temporary files can cause a long delay during startup or appear to be a freeze.
To delete temporary files:
1. Choose Start > Run, and type command in the Open text box. Click OK.
2. Type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
c:
cd\
del acr*.tmp /s
3. Type exit to close the Command.com window.
4. Install the 6.0.1 update, or upgrade to 7.0:
I did this and all versions worked, it appears this problem happens when you remove older versions and install new versions, all the temp files add up and stall the system.
