With PM6.5 there is a free download from Adobe that will allow you to place PDF files in the document, but you will not be able to edit them.
There are some software packages out there that will allow you to edit a PDF with differing success. These applications start at arounf $300 and go up to $20,000.. geared more to the Pre Press industry.
If you need to make simple edits toan existing PDF, the best way for the novice is to try to open the PDF with Adobe Illustrator. You can make many edits this way. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
This time I disagree. Of course it´s possible to use a PDF as a source for a new
PM document. Tested by PM65.2 plus + Acrobat Distiller 5.0 .
Make a new empty document with the same page size and the necessary number
of pages (layout, add pages).
Place PDF page by page.
Then Export to PDF. Here we have a problem: if the original PDF was already
compressed (e.g. ZIP/JPEG medium), then it is recommended to compress
the new version by High Quality= Low Compression.
I write this, because I was able to recover a document from the PDF.
The PM source was deleted unintentionally.
That is hardly a disagreement. It is easy to place PDFs into a pagemaker document... the problem comes when you attempt to edit the content, which you cannot do with PM.
You can edit with limited success with Illustrator.
If the idea is just to create a document and you will not be editing, then you are correct, and you will see I said that you can place PDFs into a document.
One word of caution, placing PDFs into pagemaker files causes file bloat, the files will be huge, as PDFs are included into the doc, and you do not have the option to link these files as you can with graphics. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
you are right, but the original poster had only a problem like mine:
recover a file.
No, editing is not possible, but you can add text, and cover old parts
by white areas and write new text.
I wanted only to show, that it works in a case of emergency.
